Graduating Certificate

Non NCEA international students at Wellington High School study towards a graduation at the end of their courses. Students who meet the requirements are awarded Certificates of Graduation. From 2018 a new Certificate of Excellence with Distinction was introduced for particularly outstanding students.  This is awarded at the discretion of the International Department and will only be awarded to an exceptional student. Graduation Certificates are awarded at three levels to students who have achieved:  

Excellence:

  • completes a full programme
  • earns mostly A grades
  • has consistently good attendance
  • participates fully in class activities
  • is involved in a cultural or sporting activity
  • shows significant improvement in English
  • exhibits exemplary behaviour both in and out of school and within the homestay

Merit

  • completes a full programme
  • earns mostly B grades or better
  • has generally good attendance
  • makes good progress in English
  • exhibits very good behaviour both in and out of school and within the homestay

 

Competence

  • completes a full programme
  • earns grades of C or better
  • has generally good attendance
  • English has improved
  • exhibits generally good behaviour both in and out of school and within the homestay
