International Student Support People - teachers who help overseas students studying in NZ

Wellington High School has an extensive guidance network to provide educational, vocational and personal guidance for students.

 

The Director of International Students

oversees the enrolment and progress of International Students during their time at Wellington High School.

 

 

 

The Dean of International Students

is available to assist International Students in educational, homestay and personal matters. She is responsible for the placement and performance of all international students.

 

The Homestay Co-ordinator

assists students in finding good quality homestay accommodation and acts as an advocate for students.

 

 

 

ESOL teachers

assist all students from non English speaking backgrounds to improve their English and also help them to adapt to the New Zealand school system. 

 

 

Guidance Counsellors

are available to assist students with more complex personal problems.

 

 

 

 

First language Counsellors

are available for students who have trouble communicating in English and need things carefully explained in their own language. 

 

 

 

 

 

The Careers Advisor

is available to help students with tertiary education placements.
